Send a video by email

Gmail accepts attachments up to 25 MB and turns anything bigger into a Drive link. Shrink your video so it goes as a normal attachment.

How much video fits in 25 MB

Video lengthResolutionVideo bitrate
30 s1080p6 582 kb/s

3 min540p1 022 kb/s
5 min540p575 kb/s

Approximate, for a 16:9 video at 30 fps. FeatherCut never upscales, so a lower-resolution source stays as it is.

Tips

Tips for email

  • Gmail: 25 MB per message. If you attach anything else, pick a smaller size.
  • Outlook and work mailboxes are often 20 MB or less. Set a custom size such as 18 MB.
  • Recipient's server rejects it? Go a few MB lower. Some servers count the limit after attachment encoding, which adds about a third.
  • MP4 with H.264 is a safe bet: it opens on Windows, Mac and every phone with no codecs to install.
